Our mission is to provide organic fresh produce for households at risk of food insecurity in our community of Chester County. The St. Matthew’s Community Garden is located in a small space in the overflow parking area and houses sixteen raised 10 ‘ x 3.5’ garden beds. We are a partner garden site for the Chester County Food Bank (CCFB) Raised Garden Bed Program and are committed to using organic/chemical free practices. Three beds are dedicated to growing food for the CCFB and the remaining thirteen beds are rented to church and/or community members.

The CCFB provides seeds and/or seedlings for three seasons of growing (spring, summer, fall) in their three dedicated beds. The fresh produce grown in these beds is harvested and donated to the CCFB for distribution to our neighbors in need of healthy food to feed their families. All renters participate in the care and maintenance of the beds.

This year, the St. Matthew’s Community Garden donated over 270 pounds of fresh produce to the CCFB  for distribution in our community.
